Enchanting Costa Smeralda

In 1962 a group of internationals tycoons, led by Karim Aga Khan, founded the Costa Smeralda Organization to start a wide tourist operation in the area of Arzachena.
It is fair to say that from that moment on things would never be the same for Arzachena and, generally speaking, for the whole of Sardinia. The tourist phenomen spread all over the territory, modifying it according to is requirements.
Those days saw the birth of the most important tourist area in Italy, in terms of quality. Luxurious hotels were built as well exclusive villas, that were soon to become the meeting centres of people belonging to the upper class and in charge of the world economic power. The clearness of the sea, the granite sand beaches, the jagged coastline, the ancient trees, the Mediterranean bush became an ad for the area.
Everything that was made, even the architectural style used, was an exclusive trademark.
